My PIE IN THE SKY for Obama is now Open for Voting

PIE IN THE SKY

As many of you know I am learning After Effects and seeking out contests that give me deadlines for creating small movies … The latest of these movies is now entered in the “Obama in 30 Seconds” ad competition sponsored by MoveOn.org.

The first round of voting began today. One set of five finalists will be selected based on total number of unique hits (views); another by tabulating the ten highest ratings. The ads are all 26 seconds in length (leaving four seconds at the end for a MoveOn.org disclaimer).
My entry is called “Pie In The Sky” and it can be found here: PIE IN THE SKY. It stars a pie, and that alone should be why you click on it to view it. I'm going to guarantee that no one else's ad has a pie in it. Neener neener.

When you follow the above link and watch "Pie in the Sky," it will count toward the total viewers for the ad only if you enter your email address; this prevents fraud and makes sure that one person isn’t just hitting refresh over and over. The site will send a confirmation email to your email addy to close the loop. It’s all fairly standard stuff.

Of course, while I’d like you to simply watch my ad and revel in its elegant simplicity and “from left field” humor (did I mention it has a pie in it?), you’re also welcome you to check out other people’s ads … by going here.

Email me at tcarroll at rockstarsd.com if you have questions. Voting will continue until 11:59 p.m. PDT on Sunday, April 27. Have fun!!

"Bill Me Later" Is #1 Dance song on the IAC

Written by Maya Topolovac and Stefan Kolevski , Bill Me Later is now the #1 Dance song on the IAC Internet music hub. Based in London, England, Maya and Stefan are two of the top trance composers. You can hear "Bill Me Later" by clicking on the Myspace page for "I Survived The Bush Administration..." The song is the lead track that plays. You can stay to listen to the other completed tracks!

It Hurts When The Congress Thinks You're Nuts

This is the first Flash animation for a song from "I Survived The Bush Administration ..." and I like it a lot ...

I wrote the song. Wilbert Roget, II, did the music. Thomas Bromhead IS George W. Bush for all the songs I have done that use his voice ... Thanks to us all!!

Here is the Revver version (preferable since I get a few cents for each play ...)

Here is the YouTube version in all it's glory, too ... ;-)

The Comic Book Challenge BEGINS

This is the start of something that will be very fun ... something that I will share with you, readers of ObstikilDillusion: The Comic Book Challenge, sponsored by Platinum Studios.

The initial email arrived today from Dan Forcey, VP of Content Development at Platinum. It explains the very basics of the contest, so without further ado, here is the message. Look for more posts rapid fire as characters and sequential art are developed and submitted.

Hello, there. Forgive the mass email, but I wanted send everyone a quick note to introduce myself and give you all a bit of an update on the Comic Book Challenge 2007. My name is Dan Forcey and I’m the Vice President of Content Development here at Platinum Studios and the man in charge of the Comic Book Challenge 2007. Thanks for your interest in the Challenge and I look forward to seeing all of your entries!

First of all, I want to notify you of some important dates to keep in mind for the coming weeks. Submissions for the Challenge open midnight MAY 1st, 2007 and close at 11:59pm on MAY 31st, 2007. I hope you each enter as often as you can during that time because the more ideas the better. The second dates to keep in mind are the semi-finalist pitches which will happen July 26th, 2007 in San Diego, CA. If selected to be a Semi-Finalist, you must be available to be in San Diego on that day and on the two days following to help promote your pitch. If you’re not able to be in San Diego during that time, your entry will be disqualified.

The full contest rules, including a FAQ and tips for pitching from last year’s winner, D.J. Coffman, will be posted soon on our website www.comicbookchallenge.com. You’ll receive an email notifying you when all these are posted and many of your questions will be answered then, so please hold any questions you may have about the Challenge until then.

Finally, something to keep in mind: we’re changing things a little bit this year as we’re now asking for a story synopsis and ONE FULL PAGE of art. So now might be a good time to start working on that in anticipation of the submission deadline on May 31st. Just a little heads up.

Lot’s of other great stuff coming up in the next few weeks, too, so keep your eyes on your inbox because you’ll be receiving some VERY exciting additional news from me very soon.

Thanks again for your interest in the Comic Book Challenge 2007!

Cheers,

Dan Forcey
